Location: Bulleen 3105

Project Axis is a double-storey luxury new home located in Bulleen, shaped by a clear planning axis that brings order, balance, and spatial clarity to the overall layout. The home is organised around strong alignment and proportion, allowing circulation, sightlines, and functional zones to read intuitively across both levels.

The design approach prioritises disciplined planning over decoration, with a restrained material palette and considered detailing allowing the underlying geometry, scale, and spatial relationships to define the character of the home.

The reception living area is conceived as a composed and welcoming space for receiving guests, positioned at the front of the home and intentionally separated from the main family living zones. The space is defined by a double-height ceiling that extends through to the second floor, creating a heightened sense of volume, light, and arrival upon entry.

Rather than functioning as a traditional formal lounge, the room is shaped by restraint and clarity. Considered proportions, controlled sightlines, and a calm material palette reinforce its role as a refined introduction to the home’s spatial language, while the vertical extension connects both levels and contributes to the overall sense of openness and luxury.
Beyond the reception living area, the staircase becomes a key architectural element, guiding movement from the ground floor to the private spaces above. Designed as a light and open structure, it maintains visual continuity between levels while reinforcing the home’s central planning axis.

The open riser construction, paired with refined detailing and transparent balustrading, allows light to filter through the space and enhances the sense of vertical connection. Rather than acting as a transition alone, the stair contributes to the overall spatial experience, linking both levels with clarity, openness, and a strong sense of proportion.

Located at the rear of the ground floor, the kitchen forms the functional heart of the home and anchors everyday living. Designed as a calm, open space, it balances practicality with restraint, allowing the kitchen to operate seamlessly as both a working zone and a social setting.

Integrated joinery, a generous island bench, and a refined material palette create a sense of continuity with the rest of the ground floor, while clear sightlines support connection to adjacent dining and living areas. The kitchen’s placement at the back of the home ensures privacy from the street and strengthens the relationship between daily living spaces and the rear of the site.

The bedrooms are designed as a calm and private retreat, defined by soft proportions, controlled light, and a restrained material palette. A considered balance of comfort and simplicity creates a space that feels composed and restful, with built-in elements and subtle detailing reinforcing a sense of quiet luxury.

Flowing directly from the bedroom, the walk-in robe is conceived as an extension of the living environment rather than a separate utility space. Integrated joinery, concealed storage, and warm timber finishes provide clarity and order, while soft lighting enhances both function and atmosphere. Together, the bedroom and walk-in robe form a cohesive private suite that prioritises comfort, organisation, and everyday ease.

The bathroom are conceived as a quiet retreat, offering a sense of calm and privacy away from the home’s public spaces. The design focuses on simplicity and material consistency, creating an environment that feels both restrained and indulgent.

A freestanding bath, integrated shelving, and a walk-in shower are arranged with clarity and balance, allowing the space to function efficiently while maintaining a spa-like atmosphere. Soft, neutral finishes and minimal detailing reinforce the sense of retreat, ensuring the bathroom reads as an extension of the home’s overall design language rather than a standalone feature.
A Considered Expression of Contemporary Living
Project Axis represents a considered approach to contemporary new home design, where planning, proportion, and material restraint are used to shape a calm and highly functional living environment. Organised around a clear spatial axis, the home establishes a strong sense of order that guides movement, connects spaces, and balances openness with privacy across both levels.

Rather than relying on overt gestures or decorative excess, the design prioritises clarity and longevity. Each space is resolved through disciplined planning, controlled light, and consistent material language, allowing the architecture to support daily life in a quiet and intuitive way. Public areas on the ground floor transition naturally into more private zones above, creating a layered experience that responds to both social and personal needs.
Through its restrained palette, refined detailing, and thoughtful spatial sequencing, Project Axis reflects a design philosophy grounded in simplicity, precision, and enduring quality. The result is a double-storey luxury home that feels composed, adaptable, and timeless — a residential environment shaped as much by how it is lived in as by how it is seen.
